Urlar Gladstone Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 16-Jan-2012
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with straw hues, pale on rim, this has a softly full, rich and broad nose of yellow stonefruits interwoven with smoky, nutty oak. Dry and fullish-bodied, rich, lush, ripe nectarine fruit flavours are presented with mealy, nutty oak, the palate unfolding with mouthfilling waves which result in a round, smooth and fine texture. The acidity is discreet, but provides sufficient energy and freshness, and carries through to a sustained finish. This is a complex and richly textured Pinot Gris, with significant oaking that will make a good match with roasted white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. Gladstone fruit, hand-picked, WBP, 100% barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 2.0 g/L rs and aged 12 months in old French oak, the wine lees stirred. Certified organic. 18.0/20 Jan 2012 RRP $28.00
