Untitled Red Bend

Blended Red from New Zealand - Other
Review Date : 07-Feb-2019
Dark ruby red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The palate has gently sweet and rich fruit aromas of raspberries and blackberries along with spicy fruit elements unfolding a hint of game. The fruit is rounded at the core. Medium bodied, the palate is rich and juicy with mouth filling flavours of blackberries with hints of raspberries and spices, subtle dark herbs emerge in the glass. The fruit has good depth and intensity and is supported by light grainy tannin extraction. The acidity lends the palate freshness, vitality and the wine carries to a rich savoury fruited finish. This red blend features Syrah and Pinot Noir with spicy interest and good structure. Match with wild duck and port over the next 3 years. This is a blend of 30% Pinot Noir, 30% Syrah, 27% Carmenere/Cabernet Franc/Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot, 3% Pinotage, 3$ Chambourcin and 7% Albarino/Viognier/Pinot Gris, the wine 80% 2017, 13% 2018, 6% 2015, and 1% 2014, the fruit 49% Waiheke Island, 24% Central Otago, 20% Auckland, 6% Marlborough, and 1% Northland.
