Unison Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Jul-2012
Brilliant straw yellow colour with some golden hues, pale on rim. This has a fresh, robust nose of yellow stonefruits along with lifted floral and pear notes, as well as some barrel and flinty lees work. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of stonefruits, pears and flint are a little shy, but there is a rich mouthfeel with good weight and presence, and balanced acidity. The flavours are forward with some linearity, and a little textural thread carries through to a lightly nuanced, soft finish of apples and minerals Contract Hawke's Bay Pinot Gris fruit 85% cool-fermented in stainless-steel with 15% in old French oak, to 13.5% alc., the wine aged on lees 3 months. This is a dry Pinot Gris with weight and clear-cut stonefruit flavours. Serve with antipasto and poultry over the next 2-3+ years. 16.5/20 Jul 2012 RRP $25.00
