Unison Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Jul-2012
Clone 15 and Mendoza Gimblett Gravels fruit from a site behind the ‘Unison' vineyard, hand-picked and WBP, fully barrel-fermented, the new oak a 500 L puncheon to 13.0% alc. The wine was aged 10 months in oak, given batonnage, a portion undergoing MLF. Bright, full, even pale-yellow colour with some golden hues. Up-front aromas of bright citrus fruits and nuts show with some oxidative complexity and a little oak emerging. Medium-full bodied, attractively ripe citrus fruit flavours intermingle with oxidative, nutty and oak elements and some buttery MLF notes. The palate is open and accessible with brisk acidity enlivening the mouthfeel. The wine has good line and underlying drive, and a long finish with an amalgam of citrus fruits and nuts. This is an open and approachable, zesty Chardonnay with nutty, European-style flavours. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. 17.0+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $35.00
