Umani Ronchi ‘San Lorenzo’ Rosso Conero DOC 2013

Montepulciano from Italy - Other
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
100% Montepulciano from Osimo and Ancona, in Marche, Conero, hand-picked, soaked and fermented to 13.5% alc., half of the wine aged in large oak casks and half in seasoned barriques, for 12 months. Full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. This has a concentrated and well-packed, solid bouquet with aromas of savoury red berry fruit entwined with, earthy, dusty and leathery notes, along with dried herb and game elements, lifted by a touch of volatility. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly concentrated with deep and dense flavours of savoury red berry fruits melded with dried herbs, leather and game layers. This has good palate presence and weight, with supple tannin extraction and integrated acidity. The wine flows smoothly to a dense, soft and dry-textured finish with lingering funky game flavours. This is a soft and densely concentrated Rosso Conero with savoury red fruit and earthy, leathery, gamey flavours. Match with slow-cooked game dishes and with casseroles over the next 4-5 years. 17.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $23.99
