Umani Ronchi ‘Casal di Serra’ Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC 2012

Other White from Italy - Other
Review Date : 10-Apr-2014
100% Verdicchio from the ‘Montecarotto’, ‘Serra de’ Conti’, ‘San Paolo di Jesi’ and ‘Cupramontana’ sites from vines up to 30 y.o., hand-picked and stainless-steel fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged on lees for 5 months, avoiding MLF. Full straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is softly full with clean and subtle aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, growing to show a soft core with vinous presence. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, softly presented and delicate flavours of stonefruits and nuts show some sweet nuances with a rounded mouthfeel. The palate has good body and vinosity, developing some concentration and creamy textures. Soft acidity contributes to the mellowness, and the palate is guided by a very fine textural thread to a soft, weighty finish. This is a subtly flavoured Verdicchio with good rounded mouthfeel and vinosity. Serve as an aperitif and with antipasto over the next 3+ years. 17.5-/20 Apr 2014 RRP $23.99
