Two Rivers ‘Wairau Selection’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Sep-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush, very pale on rim. This has an elegantly concentrated nose of yellow stonefruits lifted by exotic florals and honeysuckle, harmoniously interwoven with fermentation esters and hints of red berry fruits and minerals. The nose is youthfully fresh and pure in expression. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound white stonefruit flavours are intermixed with honeysuckle and esters elements. The fruit is carried by a grainy-textured palate with some phenolic firmness showing, along with brisk, racy acidity. The fruit sweetness unfolds spicy interest and the flavours are carried by the structure to a very strong, long-lingering and lively finish. This is a fresh and youthful dry Pinot Gris with good fruit aromatics and sweetness, underlined by a textural palate. Match with poultry, pork and veal over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from three sites in the Wairau Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel with a portion in seasoned French oak puncheons to 13.0% alc. and 5 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 weeks on fine lees. 17.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
