Two Rivers ‘Clos des Pierres’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Aug-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale edged. This has a firmly concentrated and intense nose of white and yellow stonefruits alongside considerably deep flinty lees and reductive complexities, unfolding mineral notes, white florals and nutty nuances. Medium-full bodied, this has a finely concentrated core with deep flavours of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with gunflinty lees and reductive layers and nutty oak. The palate is soft-textured, harmoniously presented and smooth-flowing with soft acid freshness providing energy, and the wine carries to a gentle nutty, flinty finish. This is a finely concentrated Chardonnay with complex stonefruit and gunflint flavours and a soft-textured, smooth mouthfeel. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Mendoza clone fruit from ‘The Spring’ vineyard, Wairau Valley, vines 25 y.o., hand-picked, WBP and fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 600 cases made. 18.5-/20 Aug 2016 RRP $36.00
