Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough

Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full with integrated, youthful aromas of peach, nectarine, citrus, flint, almond and clarified butter. Medium-bodied, aromas of lemon and grapefruit lead the palate, followed by peach, flint and almond, lingering on a creamy mouthfeel and a hint of butter. The fruit shows purity and a lean drive, featuring grapefruit and mineral texture. Softened, lively acidity persists in a focused, harmonious finish. This Chardonnay is elegant and composed, reflecting a cooler vintage with a leaner palate and a focused drive. Match with flash-fried whitebait and whole sole over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Wairau and southern Valleys, lightly pressed, naturally fermented to 13% alc, aged 8 months in a mixture of French oak barriques and cuves, underwent full MLF. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2023 RRP $36
