Faintly hazy, pale yellow with some depth and a green sheen, even colour throughout. This is greeted with a full bouquet, penetrating struck match, roasted almond, underlying stonefruit, citrus, wildflowers, buttery pastry and spice. Full-bodied, mouth-filling aromas of flint, struck match and roasted almond entwined with lemon, apricot, unveiling spice, wildflower and minerals. Brilliant acidity provides good energy and freshness to the rich details, carrying flavours to a long, crisp finish. Fine-textured phenolics intertwined minerals leaving a textural mouthfeel. This powerful Chardonnay strikes a good balance of rich details, freshness, and a long, lingering finish. Match with hazelnut-crusted grouper and roasted pork over the next 5-8 years. Fruit sourced from Wairau and Southern Valleys, whole bunch pressed, wild-fermented to 13% alc, aged for 11 months in 4,500L French oak cuves, underwent full MLF.
