Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Aug-2026
Medium crimson, lightly hazy, lighter on the rim. The nose is gentle, with depth, with aromas of blackberry, wild strawberry, dried thyme, smoked cinnamon, and cocoa. Medium-bodied, aromas of blackberry and wild strawberry, melded with dried thyme, smoky minerals, cocoa and spice. The wine has a rawness, showing dark fruit with purity, enriched by dusty tannins and smoky minerals, underlying gentle herb and spice, lending a herbaceous, sweet-fruited finish. A Pinot Noir with personality and honesty. Match with smoked duck and lamb koftas over the next 5-8 years. Fruit from the Southern Valleys, clone 667, 777, 115, Abel and 10/5, naturally fermented in open-top fermenters with 15% whole bunches. Then aged 18 months in French oak barriques and cuves, bottled unfined and unfiltered with low sulphur. A further 18 months ageing in bottle before release. 13.5% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2026 RRP $55
