Two Rivers ‘Awatere Selection’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Oct-2013
Awatere fruit hand-picked and destemmed, and indigenous yeast fermented with added whole clusters to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 11 months in new and seasoned French oak. Moderately deep ruby-red colour, a little lighter on rim. The bouquet is restrained with light, fragrant raspberry and dark red cherry fruits at the core, revealing mineral and dark herb notes and a little reduction. Medium bodied, tight fruit flavours of sweet cherries and raspberry liqueur are enlivened by bright, refreshing acidity. The mouthfeel features very fine-grained tannins, guiding the palate, with dark berry and liquorice elements unfolding. Herb and mineral detail add interest and the richness subtly builds, showing concentration and linearity. Soft raspberry flavours carry to a very long, refined, dry finish. This is a tightly concentrated, elegant, raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with fine structure. Match with duck, pork and Asian fare over the next 5-6 years. 18.0/20 Oct 2013 RRP $35.00
