Two Rivers ‘Awatere Selection’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jan-2013
Full, even ruby-red colour with depth and slight purple hues on edge. The nose is initially firmly bound and restrained, unfolding to reveal concentrated dark red berry fruit aromas unfolding violet florals, pepper, oak spices and minerals. Medium-full bodied, this has a concentrated core of ripe, bright, and sweet dark raspberry fruit. Fine-grained tannins add to the depth and concentration with fresh, balanced acidity contributing to the energy of the palate line. The mouthfeel is fine and firm in graininess with good drive, and the flavours are carried to a finely textured finish with length. This is a fine and concentrated dark-fruited Pinot Noir with a firm core that will see it match most red meat dishes over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the ‘Richmond Brook' and ‘Seddon' vineyards in the Awatere with 10% from Brancott in the Wairau, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented with 5% whole bunch to 14.0% alc., the wine aged for 11 months in new and seasoned French oak. 18.0/20 Jan 2013 RRP $30.00
