Two Paddocks ‘Picnic’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 27-Jan-2013
Pinot Noir fruit predominantly from ‘Two Paddocks' vineyards fermented to 13.5% alc. Full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is soft and full in volume with restrained fruitiness. Dark red berry fruit and plums are intermixed with savoury, earthy elements along with a hint of game, the nose building to show good depth. Medium-full bodied, up-front, juicy, dark red berry fruit and plum flavours are entwined with spices and subtle hints of earthy game, and are the feature on the palate. Slippery acidity enlivens the mouthfeel, with modest background tannins in support. The fruit flavours are carried by the acidity to a firm, lingering finish balanced by sweet dark berry fruit. This is an up-front, fruity Pinot Noir with subtle game notes, fresh acidity and restrained tannin extraction. Serve with pasta, poultry and pork over the next 3-4+ years. 1,700 cases made. 17.5/20 Jan 2013 RRP $30.00
