Two Gates Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2008

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Sep-2012
Full, dark, deep, ruby-red with some purple hues, youthful in appearance. The aromatics of black berry fruits, spices, liquorice and pepper are complexed by iron-earth elements and cedary oak notes. Medium-full bodied, bright fruit flavours of sweet black berries and dark plums are harmoniously combined with Asian spices, black pepper and cedar. The fruit sweetness is balanced by fine-grained tannins and soft acidity and the palate has depth and is gently mouthfilling. Fine textures flow to a long and sustained finish carrying liquorice and spice nuances. This is a harmoniously rich and balanced Syrah with spice and cedar flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 5-6 years. 100% hand-picked Syrah from the ‘Two Gates' vineyard fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 55% new French oak barriques. Certified Biogro organic. 18.0/20 Sep 2012 RRP $55.00
