Dan and Sarah-Kate Dineen made this wine from a 6 ha site at Queensberry at the northern end of Lake Dunstan, dedicated solely to Pinot Noir. The fruit was indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged for 10 months in 40% new French oak barriques. Medium-deep ruby-red colour with a lighter edge, this has bright, lively, fresh red cherry and berry aromas lifted with violet floral notes. A lighter weighted, elegant wine, the palate is marked by firmish tannins, resulting in a somewhat lean and linear expression. Though the fruit is vibrant, the generosity and sweetness does not quite match the structure at present. Good acidity lifts the finish. This will soften and put on weight over the next 3-5 years. 15.5/20 Feb 2011 RRP $37.00
