Dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is firm and densely packed with aromas of black cherries and black berry fruits layered with savoury dried herb and whole bunch complexities. Medium-bodied, soft and densely concentrated flavours of earthy and savoury black fruits are interwoven with dried herb whole bunch notes. The palate is fulsome and rounded with mouthfilling substance and flavours, supported by fine-grained, powdery tannin extraction and soft acidity. The structure grows in prominence and carries the flavours of savoury black fruits to a dry, firm finish. This is a fulsome and solid Pinot Noir with savoury black fruit and earthy flavours and a well-structured palate. Serve with slow-cooked game meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Mahana’ vineyard, fermented with natural vineyard yeast with 30% whole cluster, and 5% Pinot Gris in co-fermentation to 13.0% alc., the wine on skins 30 days and aged in 10% new French oak.
