Turanga Creek ‘Le Pur’ Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 18-Jul-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues. This has a soft, broad and voluminous bouquet, with subtly growing aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits that reveal savoury citrus fruits, honey and delicate complexing flinty lees elements. Dryish to taste, soft, lush flavours of white and yellow stonefruits show a degree of richness and sweetness, and are harmoniously entwined with savoury floral mineral and honied nuances. The mouthfeel is open and broad, the acidity soft, enhancing the mellowness of texture. This has fruit weight and density that carries the palate to a smooth, waxy, lingering finish. This is a soft, lush and densely weighted, dryish Pinot Gris with complexing honey and minerally notes. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Turanga Creek Whitford vineyard, WBP and 30% fermented in seasoned French oak barriques to 13.22% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0/20 Jul 2014 RRP $27.00
