Turanga Creek ‘La Cote’ Syrah 2011

Syrah from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 04-Apr-2013
100% Syrah from the top of ‘The Hill’ of the Whitford vineyard, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in barrel for 18 months. Full, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues on rim. This has a light and elegant nose with vibrant white and black pepper fruit aromas gently unfolding dark red florals and lifted spices, and building in concentration in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate is refined and elegant in proportion, with a range of peppery fruit, dark red florals and exotic spices. The flavours are supported by fine-grained tannins and elevated acidity which enhances the liveliness and provides linearity and drive. The mouthfeel is supple, but racy, and leads to a light, spice-nuanced finish. This is an elegant, refined, peppery Syrah with good freshness and drive. Match with poultry, pork and firmer cheeses over the next 4-5 years. Certified BioGro organic. 17.0+/20 Apr 2013 RRP $28.00
