Trinity Hill The Trinity 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Feb-2022
Full, deep ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on edge. The nose is uplifting, packed with up-front fragrances of cassis, red berries, plums entwined with tobacco leaf and barrel spice. Full-bodied, succulent fruit of cassis, red berries and plums features on the palate, enriched by tobacco, nutmeg and star anise, growing on volume, revealing iron-earth nuances. Ripe tannin formed a smooth-grained structure and core supported by lively acidity. The structure carries the wine to a juicy, aromatic lingering finish. This bright, juicy Merlot dominant blend features red and black fruit with spice and tobacco details and a dry, lengthy finish. Match with roasted lamb and rich beef stew over the next 5 years. A blend of Merlot (58%), Cabernet Franc (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) and Petit Verdot (2%) from Gimblett Gravels (67%), Tin Shed (32%) and Gimblett Estate (1%), destemmed, fermented to 13.5% alc, post-ferment maceration, aged in stainless steel. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $24.99
