Trinity Hill ‘The Gimblett’ Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay 2014

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 30-Aug-2016
Very dark, near impenetrable black-hued red with purple on the rim. The nose is very elegant with tightly bound and refined aromas showing beautiful fruit focus and purity with intense, ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum layered with fragrant herbs, and pencilly oak suggestions. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly presented with refined and tightly concentrated flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries and plums entwined with floral elements, fragrant herbs and nuances of minerals. The mouthfeel shows finesse, fruit purity and clarity, and flows seamlessly, underlined by fine-grained, flowery tannins and lively, fresh acidity. This has a beautifully fine and stylish proportion with good power and depth, leading to an elegant, lingering finish. This is a tightly bound, refined Cabernets-based blend with fruit clarity, seamless flow and very fine extraction and structure. 10+ years. A blend of 49% Cabernet Franc, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 3% Malbec from the ‘Tin Shed’ and ‘Gimblett Stones’ sites, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine pending up to 4 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 16 months in 35% small French oak barrels. 19.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $35.00 A blend of 49% Cabernet Franc, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 3% Malbec from the ‘Tin Shed’ and ‘Gimblett Stones’ sites, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine pending up to 4 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 16 months in 35% small French oak barrels.
