Trinity Hill Syrah 2020, Hawke’s Bay

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Oct-2021
Deep, dense, deep-purple colour, lighter purple on the rim. The nose is gentle and lifting with succulent aromas of ripe blackberries, boysenberries entwined with minty herbs, red liquorice and an earthy underlay. Medium-full bodied, ripe core of blackberries, boysenberries nuances interweaved with liquorice, herbs, black pepper and savoury earth. The fruit is ripe and concentrated, enriched by a firm yet smooth grip of natural, fine-grained tannins, providing a velvety frame. Balanced acidity contributes freshness to a dense palate and entends to a lengthy closing. This is a poised Syrah with generous fruit, spice on a velvety textured palate. Match with lamb racks and venison over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Gimblett Gravels, majority of batches destemmed, fermented to 13% alc, 3.24g/l RS, aged in stainless steel, and a short time in seasoned French oak. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Oct 2021 RRP $24.99
