Trinity Hill Syrah 2019, Hawkes Bay

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Jun-2020
Dark, deep ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on edge. The nose is controlled with beautiful aromas of violet, boysenberries and plums, melded with Provencal herbs fragrant and a layer of stony mineral. The palate is robust and fresh; lively acidity carries gentle ripened fruit notes of boysenberries and plums, entwined with herbs and meaty complexity. Medium-full bodied, there is a structure of smooth and hearty tannin, along with alcohol power and aromatic peppercorns. A satisfying mouthfeel with the right amount of complexity and freshness to keep going back for another sip. This is an attractive Hawkes Bay Syrah, offers excellent value; elegant tannin structure, carries aromas of boysenberry, plum fruit, melded with an amalgam of violet, herbs, meatiness and stony mineral complexity, and a lift of peppercorns. Served with grilled lamb and hearty stews over the next 5 years. Fruit destemmed, 3 weeks maceration before fermented in stainless steel to 13.5% alc. Aged 8 months in stainless steel tanks and a short time in seasoned French oak. 18.5/20pts June 2020 RRP$22.99
