Trinity Hill Homage Syrah 2018, Hawke’s Bay

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Aug-2020
Deep, dark ruby-black with high density, lighter on edge with a purple shade. The bouquet is complex and poise, packed with concentration and intensity, aromas of deep florals, controlled fruit nuances of plums and boysenberries, melded with medicinal herbs, spearmint, leather, unfolding coffee, mocha integrated oak element. Full-bodied, a rich and concentrated core of plums and boysenberries, gently entwined with medicinal herbs, coffee, leather; unveiling cedar, herbaceous freshness and black pepper linger to a long sustained finish. The flavours are dense with great intensity but not cloying. Fine-grained velvety tannin extraction has seamlessly integrated into the wine, leaves a lusciously pleasurable texture on the palate. Acidity is lacy and lifting, remarkably balanced, provides freshness and flow to linearity. This is a complexing, integrated Syrah living up to its fame and expectation. Serve decanted with lamb and beef over the next 10-15 years. Handpicked from selected parcels and fermented separately. 99.6% Syrah, 0.4% Viognier fermented to 13% alc.
