Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2016

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Feb-2017
Very dark, deep, near impenetrable black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is firm and fresh with finely concentrated and intense primary aromas of blackberry fruit entwined with harmoniously melded aromas of dark raspberries and black pepper, and nuances of dark herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright and lively with intense, fresh, primary fruit flavours of blackberries and dark raspberries, with black pepper and dark herb notes. The fruit is supported by supple tannin extraction and balancing fresh acidity lending energy and vitality. The mouthfeel is balanced and accessible. The flavours of black fruits and black pepper are carried to a moderately sustained finish. This is a bright, lively, primary fruited Syrah with blackberry and black pepper flavours on a supple and accessible palate. Match with antipasto, pork, lamb and beef dishes over the next 4+ years. Syrah fruit from the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle, with 5% Viognier, fermented with 10% of the Syrah as whole bunches to 12.2% alc., the wine aged 7 months in barriques and stainless-steel tanks. 17.5+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $22.00
