Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Nov-2016
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a firmly packed and concentrated nose with rounded aromas of ripe blackberry fruit complexed by an amalgam of black and white pepper, dark herbs and nuances of whole cluster stalk fragrances, revealing iron and earth elements. Medium-bodied, the palate is softly concentrated with flavours of ripe blackberry fruit with notes of boysenberries and black pepper, interwoven with dark herb and whole bunch stalk nuances, along with iron-earth detail. The mouthfeel is dry and grainy from the tannin extraction, and the acidity is soft, ripe and integrated. The wine carries to a dry and textural finish with flavours of black fruits, black and white pepper and dark herbs. This is a softly concentrated, dry-textured Syrah with black fruit, pepper and herbal interest. Match with lamb, beef and game meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. Syrah fruit from the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Tringle, fermented with approx. 15% whole bunches to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 7 months in small French oak and stainless-steel tanks. 18.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP $22.00
