Full, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is very fine and intense with penetrating, aromatic black fruits, lifted by floral elements, and entwined with spices and pepper notes. The Viognier component is a feature. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, fine and intense flavours of black berry fruits are enhanced by violet and dark red florals, revealing Asian spice and peppery interest in the glass. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained, supple tannins providing a smooth, velvety flow, and enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The palate leads to a fine and soft-textured finish with sustained black fruit and violet nuances. This is an elegant, supple and aromatic Syrah with a smooth mouthfeel. Serve with pasta, risotto and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier from Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle sites, fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine spending up to 3 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 10 months in French oak barriques and tank. 17.5/20 Jun 2014 RRP $20.00
