Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2011

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Jan-2012
Bright, even ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a very aromatic, up-front bouquet showing dark raspberry and spicy blackberry fruit aromas along with notes of pepper and red florals. Medium-bodied, this has juicy flavours of dark red berry fruits with black pepper, spices and violetty florals with good depth. The fruit is mouthfilling and supple textures from fine and moderate extraction provide a gentle backbone for the palate. The finish is gently nuanced, dry and lingering. 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier, the fruit predominantly from the Gimblett Gravels with a smaller portion from the Red Metal Triangle, fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged only a moderate time in barriques. This medium-bodied, aromatic, gently rich and mouthfilling Syrah will match Mediterranean inspired cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5+/20 Jan 2012 RRP $19.00
