Even, light ruby-red colour with slight purple hued, pale on the rim. This has a soft, light nose with attractively fragrant and ethereal aromas of dark-red cherry and strawberry fruit entwined with subtle notes of dark herbs, unfolding savoury red florals and whole bunch stalk detail. Medium-bodied, the palate has gentle flavours of strawberries and red cherries along with red florals and subtly complexing herb and stalk detail. The fruit is underlined by modest tannin extraction, still youthfully firm at the core, and the palate rounded from integrated, soft acidity. The flavours carry to an elegant, lingering finish with a core of strawberry, herb and whole bunch notes. Match with tuna, salmon, poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Clones Abel, 115, 667, 777 and MV6, from the ‘Esprit’ vineyard and Mangaorapa, fermented with 30% whole bunches to 12.3T alc., the wine aged 7 months in barriques and stainless-steel tanks. 17.0+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $22.00
