Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2015

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-May-2016
Full, dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh, bright and up-front with vibrant, ripe aromas of red berry fruits and dark red plums along with hints of raspberries and nuances of aromatic herbs. This is uncomplicated and has clarity and fruit-focus. Medium-bodied, the palate is concentrated with flavours of ripe dark red plums and red berry fruit with nuances of redcurrants and raspberries. The fruit sweetness is stylishly restrained and balanced by fine, grainy tannin extraction, and the mouthfeel enlivened by fresh, crisp acidity. The palate flows with good energy and carries to a black berried and plummy fruit, herb-nuanced, lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, sweet-fruited, vibrant Merlot with dark red berry and plummy fruit, well-balanced tannin grip and fresh acidity. Serve with barbecued and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4 years. Merlot fruit from the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending up to 4 weeks on skins and aged 9 months in French barriques and stainless-steel tanks. 17.0/20 May 2016 RRP $22.00
