Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, near impenetrable, with purple on the rim. The nose is full and firmly packed with aromas of ripe black berried fruits and dark red plum notes entwined with savoury dark herbal and earthy elements. This has density, richness and ripeness. Medium-full bodied, the palate features plush and juicy black and dark red berry fruit, harmoniously interwoven with dark herbs and nuances of chocolate. The wine flows positively with light, grainy tannin extraction and soft, underlying acidity carrying the wine to a dry-textured finish with light flavours of nuts, earth and herbs. This is a full, plush and juicy, ripe Merlot with harmonious flavours, and a dry, grainy-textured finish. Match with barbecued and roasted red meats over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 3 weeks on skins post ferment and aged 8 months in French oak barriques and tank. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $22.00
