Trinity Hill Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Oct-2011
86% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged around 12 months in French and American oak barrels, and stainless-steel tanks. Bright ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, light on edge. The nose is soft with attractive red plum and violetty florals, hints of oak spice and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, this has a good core of sweet plummy fruit with flavours of redcurrants and red florals. The palate has a framework of soft, grainy tannins which provide a drying textural line and finish. Moderately ripe and with a dry structure, this will match a varied range of white and red meat dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $22.00
