Trinity Hill ‘H’ Hawke’s Bay Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs NV

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Nov-2011
This release from 2009 vintage Clone 15 Chardonnay from the Central Hawke's Bay, Clive and Haumoana, carrying 11.8% alc. and 8 g/L dosage, the wine spent 9 months in bottle on lees. Pale straw with green hues to the colour and with a very fine beaded bubble, this has a fresh, taut bouquet of green apples and the most subtle note of bready autolysis. Dry to taste, this is elegantly presented and features flavours of apples and citrus fruits, enlivened by fine effervescence and fresh acidity. This is steely, crisp and has an inviting freshness. A classic Blanc de Blanc to drink as an aperitif over the next 2+ years.  Nov 2011 100% Chardonnay from sites in Central Hawke's Bay, Clive and Haumoana mainly from the 2008 vintage, fermented to 12.8% alc. and 8 g/L rs, the wine on lees in bottle for 10 months, is a very crisp, clean sparkling wine displaying citrus fruit with steel and minerals. The line through the palate is linear and long, yet has luscious notes, perfectly cut by the racy acidity. Very subtle bready yeast autolysis flavours add a layer of interest, but allow the fruit to come to the fore. An aperitif style to drink over the next 2-4 years.  Mar 2011
