Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay ‘The Gimblett’ 2008

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 31-Mar-2011
A blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc, all from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 14.0% alc., aged 20 months in 35% new mainly French oak barriques. Dense, dark, black-red in colour, this has a concentrated, but refined nose of black berry and plum fruits. The palate has excellent proportions, the depth of intense fruit flavours well-supported by fine-grained tannins and subtle oaking. Still youthfully fresh, there is a supple roundness which provides accessibility. Gently sweet and ripe, but tempered by fine and classical dry tannins, this will aged 7-10 years effortlessly, and drink with ease all the way. Ideal with roast lamb and hard cheeses.  Mar 2011
