Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red with youthful purple hues, This has a softly packed and densely concentrated nose which open in volume, showing aromas of ripe dark raspberry, black plum and black cherry fruit along with blackberries and notes of mulberries with dark chocolate. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fulsome and rounded with rich flavours of ripe dark raspberries, plums, blackberries and mulberries. The fruit is supported by grainy tannin extracting lending plenty of structure and grip, with soft, ripe, integrated acidity providing a smooth flow. The structure carries the rich flavours to a full, firm finish with savoury dark-red and black fruits. This is a fulsome Tempranillo with ripe dark raspberry, plum, blackberry and mulberry fruit flavours, and plenty of tannin extraction that carries the wine. Match with roasted lamb, beef and venison, and slow-cooked game meats over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels, hand-picked, destemmed, but not crushed, and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in stainless-steel tanks as well as French and American oak barriques. 18.0+/20 Oct 2016 RRP 35.00
