Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Tempranillo 2010

Tempranillo from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Mar-2013
Very full, dark, deep black-red colour, near saturated. This has an elegant but concentrated bouquet of dark red and black berried fruits along with complexing notes of dark herbs, bramble and liquorice, the aromas building in intensity in the glass. Medium-full bodied, tightly bound, refined flavours of vibrant dark berry fruits, fresh herbs, savoury undergrowth and liquorice are matched by lively and bright acidity, and fine-grained tannin extraction. The mouthfeel has balance with excellent tension and energy, and the flavours blossom and merge as they flow along the textural line leading to a moderately sustained finish with dark herb and plum notes. This is a bright and vibrant, fresh Tempranillo wine with balanced structure and fine textures. Match with Mediterranean fare over the next 5-6 years. Tempranillo with 10% Touriga Nacional from the Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged in new and seasoned French and American oak barriques, with a small portion in tank. 18.0/20 Mar 2012 RRP $35.00
