Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2010

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Oct-2011
Full, very deep, dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is subtle and closed initially, but slowly blossoms to show ripe black berry and black pepper fruit aromas enhanced by exotic floral lift. Full-bodied, ripe, rich and succulent flavours of black fruits, pepper and Asian spices feature with floral nuances adding extra interest. Oaking is balanced and integral. Soft, fine textures from the extraction support the fruit and with gentle acidity, the palate is one of real harmony, with a long, sustained finish as a highlight. Syrah fruit with 0.5% Viognier included, from the company's Gimblett Gravels vineyards fermented with a large portion of uncrushed berries to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques. A rich, multi-layered wine with the balance and harmony to develop over the next 5-7 years. Match with red game meat. 18.5+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $34.00
