Bright straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, paler edged. The aromatics are initially reserved but reveal well-concentrated aromas of steely yellow stonefruits harmoniously interwoven with notes of apricots, unfolding exotic florals, musk, and subtle nutty, flinty and minerally lees elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has fruit weight and presence, with deep flavours of yellow stonefruits melded with restrained flavours of apricots, citrus zest, exotic florals and musk. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded with mellow acidity, balancing some underlying steely hints of the fruit. The palate blossoms in richness and exoticism, filling the mouth, showing some alcohol drive, carrying the wine to a dry, fine-textured finish. This is a full, weighty Marsanne and Viognier blend with deep but restrained flavours, and a soft mouthfeel with some power. Match with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 51% Marsanne and 49% Viognier from the Gimblett Gravels, hand-picked and WBP, and indigenous yeast fermented in a variety of seasoned oak to 13.7% alc. and 4.4 g/L RS, the wine aged 14 months on lees in oak with MLF. 18.0+/20 Oct 2016 RRP 35.00
