Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Marsanne/Viognier 2014

Blended White from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Jan-2016
Bright, light golden-yellow colour, paler on the rim. The nose is gently full and voluminous with harmoniously entwined aromas of apricots, exotic florals, citrus blossom and honeysuckle, revealing hints of flinty lees and steely minerals. The aromatics grow in depth and intensity with aeration. Dry to taste and full-bodied, this has a concentrated core of apricots, yellow stonefruits and exotic florals, along with hints of nuts and minerals. The mouthfeel is firm and dry with a fine-textured phenolic line. Soft, integrated acidity enhances the fruit richness, and underlying alcoholic power carries the wine to a long, concentrated finish of apricots and minerals. This is a well-concentrated, dry, textural Marsanne/Viognier with apricot, exotic floral and minerally flavours. Match with rich seafood dishes and serve with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 3+ years. 55% Marsanne and 45% Viognier, hand-picked and WBP, indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned oak to 14.5% alc. and <1.0 g/L RS, the wine aged 12 month on lees in barrel with MLF. 18.5-/20 Jan 2016 RRP $35.00 55% Marsanne and 45% Viognier from the Gimblett Gravels, vinified separately and blended, the fruit hand-picked, WBP, and indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak to 14.5% alc. and dryness, the wine aged on lees, undergoing MLF. Bright, light straw-yellow colour. This has a softly concentrated nose of apricot and exotic yellow florals melded with yellow stonefruit and subtle honeysuckle aromas. This has density and a harmonious, well-integrated, aromatic expression. Dry to taste and full-bodied, the palate has depth, weight and presence, with a rounded and concentrated heart of apricots, musk, exotic tropical fruits and honeysuckle, all seamlessly interwoven and balanced. The acidity is soft, and the palate is driven by the alcoholic power, the wine flowing positively, guided by very fine phenolics, leading to a rich, lush and warm finish with tropical fruit and apricot notes. This is a rich, weighty and harmonious Marsanne and Viognier blend with exotic fruit aromas and flavours. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4+ years. 18.5-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $35.00
