Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Jan-2016
Clone 95 and 15 from the ‘Tin Shed’ and ‘Gimblett Estate’ sites, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented in 500 L puncheons to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in barrel with MLF, then a further 3 months in tank on lees. Bright, straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on edge. This has a very intense, firm and concentrated nose of fresh white stonefruits melded with complexing gunflint lees and reductive notes, unfolding citrus fruit and nutty detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and bright with lush white stonefruit flavours entwined with flinty lees and reductive complexities and subtle nutty oak notes. The richness is enhanced by lively, crisp acidity, and the wine flows along a fine-textured line. This has a concentrated core with body and presence that carries to a long refreshing finish with nutty and flinty detail. This is a refreshing, concentrated Chardonnay with stonefruit flavours and flinty complexities. Match with seafood, and roasted chicken, pork and veal over the next 4-5 years. 19.0-/20 Jan 2015 RRP $35.00
