Full, even, light golden yellow colour. The bouquet is softly broad and open, but with well-packed and deep, complex aromas unfolding, showing yellow stonefruits and distinctive gunflint and sulphide complexities. There is nutty, oak detail in support. Is this a little too complex? Dry to taste, the palate is broad and mouthfilling and openly accessible, with rich and lush citrus and ripe stonefruit flavours infused with layers and waves of complexing sulphides. There are nutty, oxidative and citrus fruit with creamy elements adding to the flavour profile, and the palate has a light, grainy, phenolic line on finish, which remains generous and sweet-fruited. 4+ years. 18.5-/20 Feb 2014 Clone 15, 95 and Mendoza from the ‘Gimblett Estate’ and ‘Tin Shed’ sites, hand-picked, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 12.8% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French oak, undergoing MLF and batonnage. Bright straw-yellow colour with golden hues, lighter on edge. The bouquet is full and densely packed with aromas of ripe stonefruits and savoury citrus fruit infused with flinty lees complexities. Full-bodied, fully packed flavours of yellow stonefruits, nuts and flinty minerals form a weighty palate. The flavours grow in detail and nutty, flinty flavours fill the mouth. Fine textures and soft acidity add to the presence, and the concentration drives the flavours to a dry, fine-textured finish with good length. This is a full, flavoursome Chardonnay with complex stonefruit, nutty and flinty detail.
