Trinity Hill Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Apr-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow with some depth, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full and elegant, nuances of stonefruit, lemon zest, interweave vanilla cream brulee, roasted almonds and a hint of brioche. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly presented, well-proportioned stonefruit adorned by a hint of citrus zest, subtle layers of roasted almonds, vanilla cream brulee lingers with a lick of stony mineral. The palate is crisp, uncloying flows along a mineral drive, supported by integrated, buoyant acidity; subtle citrus zest and discreet oak are elegant in proportions with restrained power. This is a well-balanced, elegant Chardonnay with pristine fruit, well-proportioned oak and creamy interests on a mineral palate. Match with fish pie and seafood chowder over the next 5-7 years. Handpicked, fermented with indigenous yeast in French oak 500-litre puncheons. Aged 11 months in barrels, then a further 4 months in tank on lees. 13% alc. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Apr 2021 RRP $39.99
