Made from Gimblett Gravels, southern Hawke's Bay and Haumoana fruit, 90% Pinot Gris with 10% Viognier, partially fermented in older oak to 14.0% alc. and 1.5 g/L rs, with lees contact. This is a wine based on rich textures and palate weight which will enable it to match a wide range of foods. The aromas and flavours are of dried white and yellow stonefruits with mineral and complex savoury earthy nuances, rather than the sweet lifted pear and tropical fruits that prevail. Dry to taste, and restrained in flavour expression, but with real presence. Match with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 3-4+ years.  Mar 2011
