Trinity Hill 125 Gimblett Chardonnay 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Oct-2022
Bright, pale straw yellow, even colour throughout. This has an enticing, refined bouquet with well-proportioned aromas of citrus, lemon curd, stonefruit, toasty oak and delicate spice with a hint of roasted nut. Medium-full bodied, aromas of lemon, lemon curd, stonefruit and grapefruit peels enriched by creamy Greek yoghurt, fine oak spice and toasty elements. The fruit is concentrated with excellent depth of flavour and balance. Stony minerals and creamy lees adorn the unctuous mouthfeel; focused acid tension carries the wine to a lengthy closing with delicate spice reflecting a powerful finish. This exceptional Chardonnay shows the power and finesses with concentrated fruit, balanced and toasty oak details and a refined texture revealing its origin. Fruit from 125 Gimblett Road on the Gimblett Gravels, 100% Chardonnay handpicked, indigenous yeasts fermented in a combination of new 228-litre French oak barriques and 500-litre French oak puncheons, underwent MLF, aged 14 months on lees, unfined and minimal filtration, 14% alc. Match with grilled crayfish and paua bolognese over the next 10 years. 19+/20 pts (96 pts) Oct 2022 RRP $80
