Trapiche ‘Varietals’ Mendoza Malbec 2011

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 22-Mar-2012
100% Malbec from high altitude sites in eastern Mendoza, fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine given "subtle oak contact”. Very full, very dark, impenetrable black-red with purple hues, this a shy and subtly expressed on bouquet, the nose showing black fruits, spices and black pepper and light boysenberry notes. A little reduction is present. Medium-bodied, the flavours of sweet black fruits and boysenberries are restrained and pure, with moderate richness. Some warmth and presence is provided by alcoholic body, along with moderate tannin extraction. Fresh and clean acidity marks the finish. This is a light, sweet-fruited Malbec to match barbecued food over the next 3-4+ years. 15.5+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $ 13.99
