Trapiche ‘Pure’ Valle de Uco Mendoza Malbec 2016

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 23-Aug-2017
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is softly full with aromas of ripe blackberry fruit along with notes of boysenberries, black plums, spices, and hints of liquorice and cedar. The aromatics are smooth and harmonious in presentation. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rich core of ripe blackberry fruit along with boysenberries, plums, spice notes and liquorice elements. The flavours are gently mouthfilling and supported by light tannin extraction and grip, with soft, balanced acidity. The wine carries smoothly to a finish of blackberries, plums and spices. This is a rich, up-front Malbec with blackberry and boysenberry fruit, plums and spices on a light-structured, smooth palate. Serve with lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 3+ years. 100% Malbec from the Uco Valley, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months on lees in concrete vats. 17.5-/20 Aug 2017 RRP $22.99
