Trapiche ‘Oak Cask’ Mendoza Syrah 2014

Syrah from Argentina
Review Date : 15-Dec-2015
100% Syrah from Los Arboles, Uco Valley and Cruz de Piedra, Maipu, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in seasoned American oak. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is soft and subdued with straightforward, light aromas of ripe dark raspberry fruit with hints of spice and pepper. Medium-bodied, this has an up-front, moderately sweet and flavoursome palate of dark red berry fruits and raspberry jam. The tannin extraction is modest, but shows with dry textures as the fruit recedes. Lacy acidity carries the raspberry fruit notes to a light finish. This is an up-front, moderately juicy Syrah with a light, dry finish. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 2 years. 15.5/20 Dec 2015 RRP $15.99
