Trapiche ‘Oak Cask’ Mendoza Malbec 2010

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 22-Mar-2012
Very full, deep and saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has attractive, ripe aromas of spicy black berry fruits and boysenberries with lifted floral and confectionary notes along with oak cedar in good balance. Medium-full bodied, this has concentrated flavours of black fruits, spices, herbs and liquorice, bright and lively, with a core to unfold and reveal more. Firm, fine-grained tannins provide good structure, and with fresh acidity, the palate has good drive and length. This is a concentrated wine with black fruit flavours and good structure, and it will soften and develop more nuance over the next 4-5+ years. Serve with roast beef or lamb, and with hard cheeses. 100% Malbec from vineyards 750-1100 metres asl, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in French and American oak barrels. 17.0/20 Mar 2012 RRP $16.99
