Trapiche ‘Oak Cask’ Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina
Review Date : 21-Feb-2014
Hand-picked fruit from vineyards 750 – 1,100 metres a.s.l., fermented to 14.0% alc. and 4.39 g/L RS, the wine aged 9 months in French and American oak barrels. Very full, deep, black-red colour, near saturated. This has an elegant and straightforward bouquet of blackcurrants, herbaceous stalky notes, olives and spicy herbs. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a tight and concentrated core of blackcurrants and herbs. The tannins are firm and blocky, providing a dry-textured line. The mouthfeel is fresh from background acidity and the cool, curranty flavours are carried to a dry, sappy finish. This is a classically varietal Cabernet Sauvignon with firm tannin textures. Match with lamb and beef over the next 3 years. 16.0/20 Feb 2014 RRP $15.99
