Trapiche ‘Medalla’ Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina
Review Date : 21-May-2018
Full, dark, deep black-hued ruby-red colour with slight purple tints on the rim. The nose is softly full, and gently and harmoniously expressed with aromas of ripe dark-red berry and blackcurrant fruit along with an amalgam of fragrant herbs and florals. This has plenty of aromatic lift. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and sweet, lusciously succulent flavours of ripe dark-red and blackcurrant fruit, along with subtle cassis notes, fragrant herbs and some red floral lift. The palate has plenty of sweetness and presence, lending a plush mouthfeel, and the fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins.. The fruit richness carries the wine with balanced acidity to a long, aromatic, berryish finish. This is a mouthfilling, sweet and succulent Cabernet Sauvignon with fragrant black fruits, herbs and florals, and finely extracted tannins. Match with barbecued and grilled red meats over the next 5+ years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cruz de Piedra, vines over 45 y.o., hand-picked and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in new French oak. 18.0/20 May 2018 RRP $32.99
